and a few answers....

Where is the company based and where does it operate?

We are locally owned and operated – not a franchise or chain, based near Midlothian, VA. We proudly serve the entire Richmond Metro area, and beyond.

What is the company name?

D. E. Powers & Company, LLC dba (doing business as) Mind in the Gutter.
One of our original tag lines in our radio, print, and online advertising was “Is your mind in the gutter?” It was so well received that our company name had to be Mind in the Gutter. We still get a few chuckles when we answer the phone Mind in the Gutter – but we hope that it helps people to remember us for all their gutter and exterior solutions.

Who is the owner?

The business is owned by Ethan Powers. A proud graduate of Virginia Tech, Ethan was born and raised in central Virginia. While in the middle of a successful corporate career, Ethan really wanted to work more closely with customers and have total responsibility for everything that goes into making those customers happy. Living in the area with his wife and two children, Ethan is striving to help grow Mind in the Gutter one happy customer at a time.

Why should you choose our company?

Our entire staff is interested in making your experience with Mind in the Gutter a pleasant one. I guess that is why we have been chosen as one of Richmond’s Favorites in R Home Magazine, and one of Richmond’s Best in Richmond Magazine. We have also earned The Angie’s List Super Service Award, Expertise.com's Best Gutter Services Award, and Home Advisor's Top Rated Provider. We are committed to providing exceptional value with exceptional service.

Is the company licensed and insured?

Yes we are! Our state contractor license number is 2705 127135, and we have auto, liability, and workers compensation insurance.

How often should I get my gutters cleaned?

Daily. Okay, that might be a little much but you should get your gutters cleaned at least once in the spring after the pollen falls and once in the fall when the leaves come down. Anything less than two times a year and your asking for clogs, standing water, mosquitoes and possible water damage to your home.

What's the most interesting or oddest thing you've seen while cleaning gutters?

Most Interesting / Funny - Not long into our first year of business, we received an "emergency" gutter cleaning call from a man who insisted we come ASAP. However, we already had a full schedule and wouldn't be anywhere near his home. The customer called back an hour later to ask again, saying no one else would help. After a few questions about the severity of his gutters, he finally told us his girlfriend threw his keys on the roof and they landed in the gutter!

Oddest - On a hot summer day off Robious Rd in Midlothian, I saw Kevin gasping for air and flying backwards up the roof in a hummingbird like manner. Before I could ask, Kevin yelled "There's a snake in the gutter."
